Scenes of San Sebastian

Shot of the city of San Sebastian. This is just down the road from our hotel.

Playa de la Concha.

Small alley like streets were the norm.

A bacalao (dried salted cod) shop.
Ancient bacalao cutting board.

This small island was right in the middle of the bay. Isla de Santa Klara.

View of the city from the top of Mt. Urgull.

The port of San Sebastian off to the right there.

Not a lot of coffee in Spain. Most cafes only had espresso based drinks. No problem there!

Slab 'O' Membrillo - Quince Paste

Hanging Iberico Ham

Some beautiful chanterelles

Gigantic "big as your head" white asparagus

Fresh rabbit!

Selection of salumi

Choose your own beans!

Coils of Blood Sausage

Incredibly fresh Gooseneck Barnacles

Window front of a Spanish "cooking club"for men.

First tapas! A hunkin huge slice of membrillo with goats cheese and walnut.

Angulas (Baby eels) and peppers.

The atmosphere couldn't be livelier. Loud and boisterous. My kinda place!

Octopus! Some of the freshest I've ever had.

Roasted tomato, soft cows milk cheese.

Fresh chorizo: spicy, juicy, and addictive.

About Cooking Curiously...

This is a place for food nerds to roam free. A place for me to document my tales and experiences concerning that wonderful substance known as FOOD. I find it incredible how many forms it can take, and the impact it can have on our lives. Hopefully, I can make some of those forms tangible here. The following posts will range from travel stories to new dishes and recipes, some restaurant reviews, maybe just an interesting food thought. Regardless, this is meant to be an open forum for both myself and any followers. Feel free to post and comment. Enjoy!
